Having trouble downloading tutorials

I have just started the on-line lessons and would like to download them so that I can retrieve them after the September cut off date. The lessons are wonderful but when I try to download them (per Wendy's instructions) they just start playing the video without asking me where I would like to down load them to. Have I actually downloaded them and don't know where they went?

I am on a Mac G5. It seems to work for PC users so I must be doing something wrong unless the Mac doesn't handle the downloads the same way.

I am sure that after the training time is over, I will need some refreshers. It is easier for me to follow the videos than the PDF text files or maybe I just like to be entertained!

Hi Susan,

Welcome to the forums

To download a video, click on the download link - Click here to see a screen shot.

I don't know how downloads work on a Mac, but in Windows you then get a box that gives the option to Open (i.e. run) or Save. Choosing Save allows you to select where to save the video to.

Hope this helps.

Mike

Mike,
I do click the download link in the location shown on your response but the video just plays and I don't think it downloads unless it did download and I can't find it.

Wendy,
My browser is Safari but I also have Internet Explorer but the default browser is Safari. Is that what you are asking? I am afraid that I may not be able to download these videos.

Thanks for both of your responses.
Susan

Mike,

Internet Explorer for the Mac is no longer supported so it is getting rather unstable nowadays

Susan,

I couldn't work out how to do it in Safari and IE gave me all sorts of problems ... it kept throwing a disc full error and I have no idea why.

I use both Firefox and Camino nowadays and can download the Videos with either ..

Here are links to them:

http://www.mozilla.org/products/choosing-products.html

I think that both are much better than Safari ... I changed over a while back as I wanted to be able to easily save webpages with the images intact and Safari just wonlt do that.

Sorry I couldn't work it out with Safari ... maybe someone else can

Wendy

another way on macs is to let the video load on to your screen - will be a Quicktime video - in the lower right hand corner is an small arrow thing (if I remember). Click and hold and there will be a display of what you want to do with it - one of which is to save as quicktime - it will then ask where you wish to put it.

This has worked for me using Netscape and also Safari.
