Does Netscape/Mozilla prevent seeing videos?

I can connect at work where I'm on Microsoft, and I can view the videos through QuickTime. However, at home I'm on Netscape and I can't use either QuickTime or Windows Media to view the video. Does anyone have an idea why I'm having this problem or how I can correct it?

Are you getting an error message to install QT or WMP? I use Firefox and it works fine, but it had to recognize the installed components before it would work.

Does Netscape/Mozilla prevent seeing videos?

The program screen is blank and nothing loads. There is no error message; it's as though "no one is home". Then my entire system locks up and I have to reboot. I have a gig of ram, so I know memory is not the issue. My husband's guess was that I needed to be running Internet Explorer rather than Netscape.

I really appreciate any help you can provide!

Hi Sue Ellen,

Does the Quicktime screen appear but then stay blank ?

It may be an idea to try downloading Quicktime again and re installing it ... that has solved the problem for quite a few people.

Do let me know how you go on

Yes, the QuickTime screen appears but stays blank. I'll take your advice and try the download tonight at home. I'll let you know if it works!

Sue Ellen,

Some of the videos need to load fully before you see anything. It can create the impression that nothing is happening. The download speed will be governed more by your internet connection rather than how much ram you have. What internet connection do you have?

We have a DSL connection, Mike, so that is not the problem. I re-installed Windows Media and still could not get anything to happen. HOWEVER, my geek husband (GO Linux!) insisted I open Windows Explorer instead of Netscape....and the Windows Media Player worked just fine! I didn't try it with QuickTime because I was so thrilled to have it work!

I would guess that Netscape may have been the problem since Bobby (my husband) said some sites will only work on Windows Explorer. I can do everything else on the site in Netscape...just not view the videos!

Well, the problem is solved for me...but someone else may have a similar problem and the Netscape/Explorer dis-connect may be something to remember.

Thanks again for all your suggestions!

ttfn!

Sue Ellen,

The Video tips are in Quicktime so not sure how you have got it going ... but just glad that you are now able to view them
