Download vs Boxed Version

Wondering what the disadvantage of not having boxed version of PSE5 would be other than the obvious of not having the CD? I don't believe there is a hard copy of the manual?

Adobe is offering another $10.00 off when you download from their web site bringing the total to $59.99 ($89.99 - $20.00 rebate - $10.00 download discount).

I am wondering if you can burn a copy of the of the downloaded file for later use or is it an automatic install kind of like Microsoft Automatic Updates?

Thanks TJC

I don't know about burning a copy of the download, BUT, there is a rather nice User Guide (226 pages) that comes with the boxed set.

Hi ...

You will be able to burn a copy but you will also be able to go back to the site and download it again ... if you need to

That is not what I expected. Most software now a days has the manual on the CD. That is a great feature. Thanks for the info.

FYI I made a mistake on this post. It is not $59.99 for the PE5 download from Adobe it is $69.99. Don't ask how I made the mistake I am to embarrassed to admit it. Sorry if I wasted anyones time. TJC

Derek,

There is a PDF version on the CD. It is 480 pages. The 226-page printed manual that comes with the boxed program is basically an abridged version of the online manual. The table of contents of the printed manual does include those topics that are only on the online version, so you know what has been left out of the hard copy. HTH

Is there any way of getting the manual if you only downloaded PSE 5.0?

Hi ...

... and welcome to the forum

I'm afraid that you only get the paper manual with the boxed version ... but the PDF does come with the downloaded one

Funny thing, I bought my boxed ver.5 throught Amazon.com and all I got was a 38 page Getting Started booklet. After the $20.00 rebate which I'm due to receive in December I will have paid $65.99. Maybe that's why I didn't get a small User's Guide....hummmm..

The CD does of course contain the full manual.
