elements to CS

My apologies for no doubt repeating this question, however searching the forums proved futile. My question: as an Elements user am I eligible for the CS upgrade or do I have to purchase the full program?

Cheers,

Eleanor

Hi Eleanor ...

You can't just buy the upgrade from one of the stores ... to qualify for those you need to own a previous version of Photoshop. However there are a couple of possibilities ... Adobe do offer a slightly cheaper version of CS2 to Elements users but I believe that you may have to call them to find out the price.

Another thought is that they do have offers from time to time where they offer a good deal on CS2 to Elements users ... there was one recently but I think that it may have now ended.

Hi Eleanor -

Wendy is right. There is an upgrade price available to Elements owners ... it's $499 US and available on their website. You can either download it or order the disc.

The great deal ($249?? or $299?? US) ended a few weeks ago ... I missed it too .

Or you can wait a little longer and might get it cheaper as CS3 is due to be realeased in May.

If we do decide on CS2 is there any reason to keep elements? I seem to recall hearing of using both programs Anything elements offers, not available in CS2?

Hi Kim ...

It really depends on what you want to use it for ... CS2 doesn't have things like the artwork & effects that PSE5 has but its a much more in depth editor. Quite a few people do still seem to use Elements once they get CS2

Thanks Wendy, I appreciate your reply. Am looking into V5--saw it when I was out the other day. Am confused about having both 3 and 5 on our home (shared) computer. I am confused about the space issue- RAM, virtual memory, and hard drive space. I know those are very basic but it all has me in a head spin actually. I think I need a computer for only my photo stuff (add that to my wish list ) I want to scan a bunch of old photos onto the computer but am waiting for to see if another computer may be my best bet. Do not know how much of a hassle it would be to switch everything over as I am not very computer literate

Hi Kim ...

On a windows machine you can only run one version of Elements at a time so having more than one isn't an issue. All it does is take up some space on your hard disc ... but its not a lot

... don't worry about switching computers and sorting out Elements everyone here will help you so you won't be on your own with it
