Brush selection and Undo and Redo Icons

Some reviews posted on other sites indicate frustration, because the reviewers claimed the redo, undo and brush selections were removed from the toolbar. Another complaint was that they couldn't adjust a color curve?

Anybody see this as a problem?

BTW - Can I leave PSE-3 on my hard drive if I load PSE-5? I wouldn't want to have to reload all my plug-ins again.

I left 4 on mine. Downloaded 5 and then moved all my plugins, brushes, ect. The only thing I still have in a seperate file saved are some of my layer styles that I still can't seem to get right. Then I played with 5 to make sure it all worked and took 4 off the next day.

Roadrunner, I did the same as Kimi. I went from 4 to 5 and I made sure everything was up and running and then I deleted 4.

The undo and redo are now up under edit. But, I don't use it too much so it didn't matter to me. Not sure what you mean by brush tools. I thought they were all there.

I've tried the color curves and like them. They seem to work fine but I'm not an expert on it so you might want to wait for another response from someone more experienced.

Roaddrunner: I still have 3,4 and 5 loaded although have almost stopped using 3 and 4. As I want a plug-in in 5 I just copy and paste it over from the earlier version and check that it works - so far all do. Finding it a good way to clean house of some plug-ins that I loaded up but never used. There are some changes - mostly good ones but some people just don't like any change.

As for Undo/Redo I mostly used the History Pallette so don't miss the tool bar buttons. Actually I now have a keyboard that has Undo/Redo/New/Open/Save and I'm rapidly deciding that's the best place for them

A Microsoft Natural 4000. Really like it but it is big . Lots of extra keys, a big soft spot to rest the wrists and a zoom control so I can read the small print .

Thanks for the feedback guys and gals!

I'm thinking about getting Elements 5 in Nov. I just wanted to make sure I could keep PSE 3 up till I get everything transferred to PSE-5.

I'm glad to hear the color curves are working. I think the blue curve will held reduce the blue cast often found in whites.

thanks again - you folks are a great help!

Well not quite that simple as the simplified colour curves that come with PSE5 don't let you select color channels however there's a free plug-in available that will let you do it and there's also a way to use the full Photoshop curves in PSE5. So lots of choices to do what you want (and there are other ways to get rid of a blue cast that don't need curves)

Hello Road Runner

I installed the trial version of Elements 5 and have no conflict with Version 3 (never went to Version 4). I did remove Version 2 when installing Version 5.

I think you'll like the new version. I am very keyboard friendly so using the Cntl Z and Y were not a big deal, even though I did like the Undo/Redo icons. My only area of concern is all the pre-defined "artistic" backgrounds that come with V5. I don't do a lot of scrapbooking, but I've already seen where the files are stored. I'll probably just move them to disk (free up the hard drive space) in case I need them, but most of my Elements work (outside of Grant's weekly challenge) is basic photo editing.

I'll probably leave V3 on to help with forum questions
