Move tool ????

OK first I'd like to say THANKS Tami for the new section for PSE 5.

Ok here's my question. In PSE 3 you could use Shift ALT when using the move tool to keep your photo or object to keep it's shape. What in the world do you do in PSE 5 to do this? I am totally scratching my head on this one....
There is probably a simple solution, but I can't figure out the simple stuff.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Tina ...

When you are resizing using the move tool you just need to hold down Shift as you drag in or out and it will stay in proportion ... its the same in all versions

Oh Wendy, I have tried that. I must not be holding my mouth right or something...lol. When I tried that sometimes I get it all outta sorts. The sides will move in but the length doesn't move. What in the world am I doing??? I feel like a big goof here....lol. I am using the corners to move in the photo also.
I am seriously having a moment... ha ha.

Hi Tina ...

Lets say you are trying to resize a photo that is on its own layer ...

Just get the move tool and when the bounding box comes up around the image ... move your cursor into one corner. The cursor will change shape into a line with an arrow at each end of the line. Click down with the mouse ... hold down the shift key and drag from the corner diagonally inwards to the centre ..

That should sort it out for you

In PSE 5 there is a "Contrains Proportions" checkbox in the options bar - make sure that is checked.

OK I tried it in PSE 5 and it will move like that but if I move a little upward my pic goes right on up and distorts. (I am not a steady hand person at all.) I decided to shut down PSE5 and open PSE3 back up and it is locked down when I do that. Does that make sense? I can do that in three and be as clumsy as I am and not make any distortion. It isn't working the same in PSE 5 for me. =(

In my version of PSE5, I don't have to hold down any keys for it to constrain when scaling, it automatically does so I must have the constrain proportions box checked. If I hold down the shift key, then it no longer constrains and it distorts the image.

Jodi

LOL- we were typing at the same time =)

Send a message via Skype™ to Byron Gale
So, then, it appears that the SHIFT key INVERTS the setting of the "Constrain Proportions" option?

Hey Jodi now that you ladies have straightened me out I see that too.

You guys have no clue how that was stressing me out.
Seriously...lol. I would have to give up on a program that didn't keep in proportion for me.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP!!!!!
