Card Reader
My computer will no longer download images from my Camera. When I hit choose device. The Card Reader is now gone.
Can someone explain where this came from without laughing at me too loud. I tried reinstalling my Camera's software but it made no difference. |

Have you tried the camera wizard in Control Panel?

Nope..
I reinstalled the Camera software again. It is showing in the Startup icons so I am assuming that it finally took. I am getting an Error Message whenever (Fatal Execution Engine Error (0x7927e03e) I start the Adobe Downloader. I did a search and found another person posting the same problem on a Microsoft forum but no one had ever answered him. Looks lke another trip to the Computer Doctor. The problem with that is.... the downloader worked before I sent it to the Computer Doctor last month.

Kim
Have you tried to reset Preferences yet? Might straighten out your problem without a trip to the Computer Doctor. |

Kimi,
I don't know about using your camera's software, as I've never done that. I have always used a USB card reader. If you have one of those, and when you plug it in, Windows goes "bonk", but you don't see it in My Computer, it could be something you can cure using the Computer Management configuration. First plug the reader in to your PC, then put a memory card in the reader. Then, right-click the My Computer icon, and pick Manage from the menu. When the Computer Management window opens, select the left-pane item Disk Management, and wait for the right pane to populate with your disk information. Here's what I get when I do that: You can see Disk 0, which is my hard drive, and Disk 1, which is a Memory Stick inserted into my card reader. You can also see my two CD/DVD drives. The important thing to look for here is the drive letter. My hard drive shows C:, the memory stick shows E:, and so on. If you do this, and see your removable drive (a.k.a. your memory card in the card reader) but there is no drive letter associated, then that might be the whole problem. If that IS the case, then RIGHT-click the removable disk, and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." from the menu. When the next window opens, click the Change button, and pick from one of the available, un-used drive letters on the list. Of course, click OK when you're done. This can happen when a new device gets added to a system and gets a drive letter assigned that windows had previously assigned to another device. Which ever device is connected first gets the drive letter, and the other one ends up "orphaned". Connecting them in reverse order would usually reverse the problem. Sorry for going on and on, but there's no quicker way to describe things. I don't know for sure that this is your problem, but if you can save yourself a trip to the repair shop... Of course, if your symptoms don't match, then this won't be of any help, at all... HTH, Byron |

Byron- I hope it helped Kimi and I wish I had thought to ask here about a month ago when I had a similar problem. After flailing around i did something that made all OK but forget what.
Thanks for the well written steps. |

Oh.. Byron I wish you were close.
It is connected to my USB. I am going to print out your suggestions and try. Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of that out.

I did not change my letter.
I tried my daughters jump drive. Worked fine. When I connected my camera the error message came up but also the cameras software and I could download the images into that. So the removable drive seems OK. It seems the problem is with the Adobe Downloader? I also don't get the POP UP screen that I used to get when I would plug it in. The one that let you choose which program you wanted to use. AAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!! |
