Lost my Panos filmstrip

I am trying to move my filmstrip from 4to 5. I located the folder in 4 and tried to move it to the same place in 5. I shut 5 down to do all this. Does it have to be open? What else could I be doing wrong? I cant find it in five.

Chrissy: There's been some threads about where actions go in PSE5. It's very different from earlier versions.

Here's a good way to do it:

On your desktop right click and select New - then Short Cut. Copy and paste the following into the Browse box:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Photo Creations\special effects\

(This assumes your hard drive is set up like mine - if not then you'll have to find the folder yourself - if you do need to you'll need to enable "Show Hidden Folders and Files" in Windows as the folder is hidden by default)

Open the new shortcut on your desktop and right click on it and go New>Folder and call it Panos Effects (or anything else you want)

Now copy the Filmstrip .atn files that you have in PSE4 into the folder (just the .atn files, not the .psd file). (You can drag and drop them or copy and paste)

Open up PSE5 and you should have it in your Artwork and Effects>Special Effects>Panos Effects

You won't get the thumbnail but you'll see the words. I'm sure Panos will be providing new thumbnails for his effects as soon as he gets PSE5

Let us know if this works for you (same principles apply for other actions, effects, layer styles you want to add)

Tony

Crissy,
PSE 5 uses a different location than 4.
Using Windows Explorer follow the following path -

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Photo Creations\special effects\photo effects

If you put your panos film effect into some other other go find it, cut, then follow the above path and paste it in.
Files must be in a folder.
Hope this helps,
Kev

Hi Dorrie

Brief version:
A shortcut to the 'PSE5 action folder', but with a nice icon

Long version:
From http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com...795#post167795
My work from yesterday, delete.zip contain
an extra gift: If you do a little examination in the
folder inside the ZIP, you should be able to learn how
to make folder thumbnails (a picture) on whatever folder.
Unzip to a folder in Windows XP where you have
Large Thumbnails View.
The ZIP contain a shortcut to the 'PSE5 action folder',
a shortcut that I created to work in
all languages / countries, (of cause) and besides that, it
also show the proper icon by Adobe.

Benny,
Thank you I now have the shortcut on my desktop and it looks a lot nicer than the Manilla Folder I had created before.
