Interesting Ray. Thanks for posting. I had sort of guessed that it wasn't raised as a big issue during Beta testing since the testers would know the alternate ways but I guess I was wrong and it was an Adobe decision. Looks like they need to do usability testing with "typical users". They seem to be the ones who miss it.

Interesting info. I actually wasn't in the habit of using it, so I won't miss it, but I can see how it could be annoying.

I used them alot But not having them hasn't been to much of an issue. It had only been a couple of days but I am getting use to the ctrl z or y. For me with having to do alot of editing to team photos the buttons were easier but I have been adapting pretty well. I find myself referring to the short cut card that came with V5 just so I can start learning them. Didn't know most of them before. At least they did include this card for us to refer to.

Hi Tony ...

I think that we all develop our own little workflows ... and especially where there are multiple ways of doing things it can mean that your rarely use some things.

I tend to use Edit>Undo if I have one thing to undo or the History Palette which is just one click to undo several .... I'm not a great user of shortcuts either

Wendy

One thing that was good about that message is it sounds like it may come back in v6. I personally use the Undo button all the time in v4, even though I use a lot of shortcuts. Every once in a while I use the shortcut, so I could probably develop the habit if I needed to.

Now, someone assuming it's a rotate button? That probaby wouldn't be as much of a problem if they just made it a straight arrow like Internet Explorer. That's probably why I tend to use the button, since I'm used to IE's back button.

Thanks for the link. I'm guessing for me that was the issue - they looked like rotate buttons... I never used them. Heck, I hardly even used the "New, Save, and Print" buttons either. More likely to hit the File menu, myself.

I was a Usability Engineer (part time, software engineer part time) at my last job. It's amazing how many people use the same software completely differently. I'm the same in Word - I use the tool bar buttons for aligning text, and bold and italics and underlining, but I never think to use the Print/Save/New buttons. I think it is because I come from a Unix background and we didn't have those way back when...

Join the space age young skywalker. Get one of them 5 BUTTON optical meeses a light sabre shoots outta da buttom. Then, set the bigger of the two little side buttons for Undo. This will leave the left forepaw available for any use the owner deems appropriate. LOL
