Edit points

I have been recording a local band rehersal.
I started recording at the beginning of the song and paused at the end.
I then started recording again at the beginning of the next song and paused at the end.
I continued like this for the 50 min session.
When I loaded it into premiere I found lots of random edit points during the individual songs even thought I didn't stop or pause the recording during the individual songs.
Is this normal :?:
Can I stop this :?:
Can anybody help me

Keith,

Did it capture multiple clips when you captured it into Premiere Elements?

What type of camera do you have?

Where you taping on normal or extended mode?

When PRE captures, it will start a new clip everytime there is a timecode break, which usually occurs when you start and stop the camera. However, on some cameras if you are recording in extended mode new clips will be created without a timecode break.

The good news is that you can just drop those clips on the time line and there will be no break between them as long as the camera wasn't stopped. So your song will play start to finish with no gaps or stops

Hi Tami

I started capture and left it running for the duration of the tape.
I have a JVC GR-D63.
It was in shortplay mode.
Also I had recorded over the previous material with the lens cap on to erase other video and reset the timecode ready for this session.
I was'nt sure about this it was recomended by someone else. :?: :?:
How do you drop clips on the timeline to smooth it out :?:

Thank you for your response.

Keith

Keith,

If you just highlight all your clips in the bin (Crtl+A) and then drag to the timeline they will all line up with no gaps and play as if they were all one clip.

As for the recording with the lense cap on... thats one way to do it, however
I just get a new tape as the tapes are not expensive.

Another thing you can check in the settings when you are going to capture is when you click the Capture Button, click the more button at the top right corner of the window check to see that the Scene Detect does not have a check mark by it, that should stop it from creating the breaks.

You could also check the capture to timeline and that would put your video directly on the timeline for you all lined up if you had scene breaks in it.

If there's anything else, let me know

Hi,

Using several different editing programs, sometimes I get tangled up on what does what.

You are fine with the method you are using to set your timecode.

The pricey aps allow you to "Black a Tape" by hooking up to the computer and using their software to record basically the same thing you are recording with the lense cover on....Black
