Hello, everyone! I am new to this forum. I hope you can help me with this little problem:
I created a slideshow on Photohop Elements 4 and then tried to burn it to a DVD, but a few moments after started burning the disc, it displayed this message:"The data rate of this file is too high for DVD. You must replace the file with one of a lower data rate. PGC info: name=ref=Cpgc, time=00:04:57:21 " What do they mean by "data rate" ? Thank you in advance for your help. |

Hi,
Before I attempt to answer, just some questions... You create your Slideshow in Elements 4.0. Do you use Output as WMV? Where and how are you burning to DVD? Do you have Premiere Elements 2.0 installed on your computer along with Photoshow Elements 4.0? Is the message that you are receiving popping up in Photoshop Elements 4.0 or Premiere Elements 2.0 or other? ATR |

Before I start, a belated Welcome To The Forums.
While waiting for a reply, I did some looking around for information that might be of interest. This is assuming that you have created a slideshow in Photoshop Elements 4.0, have exported to Premiere Elements 2.0, and are trying to burn the slideshow to DVD as DVD-Video (MPEG2). “About Data Rate” can be found in the Premiere Elements 2.0 Help. For DVD production, it says that by default Premiere Elements automatically adjusts the DVD data rate “which controls the amount of video information that is processed each second during playback”. Therein rests the problem “automatically”. Some places blame the issue on the output from Photoshop. The following link shows the response of Chuck Engels to a recent similar Thread in these Forums: http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com...ight=Data+Rate The Adobe Premiere Elements User to User Forum at http://www.adobe.com is a good place to check out other reports of the problem and responses. You can also post your question over there. I have not completed my search over there. If I can confirm a quick fix for your problem, I will post it here. ATR |

Here is a Forum Thread from 12/9/2005 "Data Rate" that looks interesting (responses are from the Super Moderator, tfry).

Thank you, ATR for your help. I followed your tip and found a detailed explanation of this problem --and how to fix it manually-- from one of the users (DPGardner) in the Adobe Users Forum. Apparently it has to do with the output from Photoshop.
Thanks again!
