Yes when you use the "Write Keyword Tag and Properties Info to Photo" it creates an .XMP file and put's any "tags" in this file, it does not put any of the information about photo stacks. So if you have a directory structure with RAW, PSD, TIFF and JPG in sub directories but nicely managed as a stack in Elements all this information is ignored.

In essence when you import the photos you get a series of photo's imported but they are not placed in nice neat little stacks as they should be. You do get the tags though.

So unfortunately while I get the tag data I don't get anything else which again is limiting.

If I'm missing something and you can also bring across stack structures I would love to know how.

Hi cubano ...

Running some programs under Fusion, Bootcamp or Parallels is OK but once you get used to using a Mac then its far better to run Elements on the Mac itself.

I was making the transition to run 100% on the Mac but came across some problems which has forced me to learn some prgs in windows before I try to use the in the Mac

Cubano,

Good suggestion but if I was going to jump I would like to make a clean break and have everything running under the Mac.

Hi Griff ...

We do have Parallels installed on all our Macs but it only gets used on my husband's iMac. He has some Radio Ham software that is Windows only ...

The only other thing I use Parallels for is testing

Wendy,

Not sure if you can answer this one, but if I migrate everything from Elements to CS4 on XP, could I then migrate to Apple and not lose anything?

Kind Regards

Paul

Hi Paul ...

Photoshop doesn't have the Organiser at all so all the info would have to go into the Metadata ...

I do use CS3 but not on Windows so I really haven't experimented with moving things over to Photoshop ..

You should be able to bring tags and other metadata over to the Mac side without trouble, but you won't be able to bring stacks, albums and the like automatically, at least the way you have them structured in the Organizer.

Stacks are definitely out - iPhoto doesn't have anything like that, and the version of Bridge that ships with E8 doesn't ship with the Version Cue feature.

If you wanted to manually deal with things like albums, you could export into folders, then import them into iPhoto (or whatever program you want to use) by folder, so that you can keep your hierarchy.

I agree that it's a drag, especially if you've done a bunch of work to take advantage of all the Organizer's features. Tags, keywords and other metadata should come across ok, though.
