"Waxy" faces

The attached photo is one example among dozens of a problem I've been having. I am editing thousands of color slides from an old family collection. Some of them look great. But some of them -- like this one -- do not. In many photos, the subjects' skin has an almost waxy look. (Maybe there's a better word for it, but one look at the photo should show you the problem. Other examples on request.) Does Elements give me a good way to deal with this problem?

Hi, The image looks a little over-saturated to me. Open a hue/saturation adjustment layer and reduce the saturation, or go into Enhance>Adjust Colour>Hue and saturation. See if that improves the image.

Hope that helps,

Thanks, Ivor. This might be a good help. I'm going to play with some of the photos I did not send.
