...i have an image with dimensions set exactly as i would like them to be, but when i save as a .jpg or .pdf to have it printed at a store, the image looks like it is stretched vertically...but when I view within PSE 6 it looks correct...
Could I ask for a quick rewind here to establish what the problem is, please?

In the original post there is a contradiction -

If the image appears Ok within PSE 6, what is being looked at that gives the impression its stretched?

Wendy, you make a good point. But if it were a Pixel Aspect Ratio problem, wouldn't the number of pixels be the same when the file is saved? These are different. The first one is 100x57 and the second is 100x65. The second has an overall aspect ratio (100/65 = 1.538) that is consistent with a picture that is sized at 11 inches by 7.188 inches (11/7.188 = 1.530).

emexmedia, Did you start with the first image, do a simple "Save As" to a jpeg, or is there something more to your workflow? (Yes, I know the pictures are smaller, but I assume the ratio is consistent).

Hi rjkrei ...

Are you picking the sizing up from the small images posted here ?? ... if so then I think its probably better if we establish size from the originals.

Up to now I don't think there has been any mention of the number of pixels in each image being different ??

I used the uploaded pictures. Only info I have at this point. Yes, the original(s) would be nice. Another thought I had was to send one we know is correct and see how their software handles it.

...no that is not the problem...the image and all of its contents look correct within PSE, when I save as any other type of file, such as Jpeg or PDF, then the image looks 'stretched' when i view it outside of PSE...

Ok, so as I understand it the image that you've saved as a JPEG for printing looks correct when you open it in PSE but not when you use something like Windows Explorer. Is this right?

Can you tell us what the source of the image is? Does it come from a Digital Camera, Digital Video Camera, Scanner or what?

Also what editing steps have you done? Have you resized the image using Image > Resize > Image Size?

...the comments about the two small pictures, if you notice, one of them is a screen shot, therefore the sizes will be different between the two pictures...

...here is what I have done/determined to fix the problem...i know most people here will say that this situation is impossible...

...i created a new image/canvas with the exact same dimensions and resolution as the original...then i duplicated all of the layers to the new image/canvas...and now when i look at the new image/canvas, nothing is stretched (psd file within PSE 6) but the image goes beyond the horizontal boundaries of the canvas (on the left and right side), thereafter I just re-aligned all my objects and now everything prints as it is seen...

...thanks for everyone's help...
