placing subject seamlessly on new background

Hi , have gone over mikes tutorial and am getting as far as tearing the image off of the dock so two images can be seen at the same time... has anyone else done this tutorial? I can't seem to figure out how to see both the images at the same time then place the one into the other.

In the Menu bar go to Window>Images> . . . select Tile. This will display your two images -- your selection and the new background -- side by side.

do you know if that is how he starts working on that tutorial, with the photo he wants to make the selection from AND the background he wants to put it into? I don't see that referring as such in his tutorial, but when he says to tear the photo from the dock and move it, that is where I get confused. Is there maybe a more beginning tutorial I could look at until I get the hang of it do you think?

Placing subjects seamlessly on a new background was the name of the tutorial by mike. And easier step by step of that video would certainly be appreciated...

I googled this, and access is restricted.
Tell us what you want to do, and perhaps we can help.
