As to working it through.....not yet. I'm still futzing with learning the abilities of my GE X500 bridge camera which does so much more than my P&S Kodak EasyShare C143 whilst taking a college course in intro to digital photography. My time....and my mind....are no longer my own.

I like the look of this so I tried it is PSE and found all the steps doable until the final one. You don't have access to channels (perhaps with a plugin), but I'm not sure it's necessary. Here is what I came up with:
