Yesterday we had lunch at Woolmers. It is a historic farming property (has been owned by the one family since early settlement) now restored and on the tourist route.

I took this photo of the front entrance.

Robyn:

That is really beautiful! I love the way the greens form an arch around the entrance, and the "framing" is just lovely!

Hope you had a nice day!

Thank you Colleen.

I did have a nice day. Once a month a group of old work colleagues (we are all retired now - well and truly:D ) meet somewhere for lunch. Most of us worked together in the 1980s and we have always kept in touch.

I took quite a lot of photos, but that was the one that appealed to me the most.

Robyn, what a beautiful place, and a greaat renderihng of it. Makes me want to meet you for lunch, too! But, alas, I'm not yet retired.

Aahh Linda...........retirement is just sooooo good! I worked for 28 years in the one place and loved every minute of it, but I wouldn't want to go back now, I've moved on to the next phase in my life.:)

Robyn and Nancy, I'm "playing like" I'm retired right now. Since my boss shut down his business, putting me out of work, I haven't yet started job hunting. Since we'll be leaving for our Alaska trip in June, I didn't think it would be a good idea to start a new job and immediately leave on vacation! So for a month or two, I'm in a little mini-retirement ;)

But . . . not to sidetrack this thread, because your photo, Robyn, is wonderful.

Nancy and Linda thank you for your comments on the photo.

I am in awe of people like yourselves who work and seem to do so much of everything else as well. My time management skills aren't what they used to be when I was working, and I suppose that is understandable, they don't have to be any longer, and one tends to slip into some lazy habits! :D :D ......not that I'm complaining!

Thanks Karen. I didn't realise that you had visited Tasmania in your many travels. How long has it been since you visited us? Would you believe that was my first visit to Woolmers, and it's only 15 minutes away!:o Have you visited there since they have put in the national rose garden. I can't wait until they are in bloom to head out there with my camera.

Hi Robyn ...

Oh that photo is perfect ... the way the trees arch across the top and frame the scene is excellent.

... and it looks to be a great place too!

Robyn - What a wonderful picture - and I love what you've done to frame it. You make me want to make another trip down under again!! Maybe this time I should bring my wife and make it a purely pleasure trip (no longer in the Navy).

Robyn, we visited Tasmania about 6 years ago. We flew to Launceston and hired a car and toured a lot of the Island. I never say we have "seen" a place because you can only scratch the surface when you visit for a short time :D. I really liked Tasmania, it is so different from Western Australia and, of course, it is a lot older when it comes to European settlement.

Robyn,

Nice photograph. Isn't it interesting that it takes us soooo long to visit major tourist attractions that are in our backyard. I'm the same way.

How are you finding Bryan's book? I've finished the class, learned a lot and ordered his other books. I'm thinking about the flash photography course next.

Hi George,

I've only read about the first 30 pages, but I can see it's going to be VERY helpful. I haven't even looked at the DVD yet. Lots of other stuff going on at the moment, but should see my way clear next week to really get into it. I'll be interested to hear your opinion on his other books........
