Photos whizzing about!

I scanned a photo for a friend and then wanted to crop it. I used the crop tool but when I set the cursor in the corner of the picture, the picture whizzed across the screen so I had to use the scroll bar along the bottom to drag it back again. Is there a way I can stop this as it is extremely annoying?

it's a bug...go to toolbar>window>images>maximize. Stretch the frame away from your image afterwards.

Are you cropping while zoomed in to the picture...?

What you described certainly happens when the crop tool leaves the screen area. You can stop this happening by repositioning the picture before the crop tool leaves the screen.

To do this while the crop tool is selected, hold the spacebar down, which temporarily selects the Hand Tool. Use the hand tool to move the picture, while keeping the spacebar down. Then release the spacebar to retutn to the crop tool. The crop area will remain selected.

Of course you can always set the view to fit screen...

Is this any help, or is your problem different?

Thanks for your reply. The whole photo is on the screen, and if I place the cursor in the corner ready to slide it across to create the crop area the photo whizzes across the screen. I can't figure out why the photo moves in this way and its quite frustrating! Any ideas?

Ok... I managed to replicate this problem several times.

This happens when the cursor is sitting outside or overhangs the edge of the picture.

Within the cropping cursor is a square. Make sure the top and left hand side of the square are sitting just inside the picture. Every time I placed these just off the image, the picture shot to the side.

Thanks for your replies.
I followed your tip, Jodi, and clicked on windows/images etc. and when I got to the maximize windows bit it was ticked so I unticked it and all is well! Thank you for your help!
