I am using Premiere Elements 2. I cannot figure out how to save a title. The template goes onto the "media list", but the picture that I want on the title does not. The top half of the title is black. When I put it on the timeline, I still get the black top half, my picture is not there. In the book, Premiere Elements for Dummies, it says to click Save Title in the bottom right corner of the Adobe Title Designer. I cant see a Save Title button. Help! Help!

First.....that book of that you are using is apparently written for Premiere Elements 1.0, not 2.0....last time I looked the videos in the Subscriber area were also done with 1.0, not 2.0...there are similiarities, but there are those challenging differences!!!!!
I would like to share with you my discoveries on Premiere Elements 2.0 Titles Savings....
First, stop looking for a Save As (Save) button from the 1.0 version at the bottom of the Styles Panel in the 2.0 version...you can save Styles there but not titles.
If you go to the program's Help, put "Titles" in the Search field, you find the answer for the 2.0 version:
"Titles are embedded into the project file rather than saved as independent files." However it goes on to tell us how to achieve this tricky Save. "If you want to use a title in another project, you must open its project and export the title using the File/Export/Title Command. Then you can import it into another project as you would any other source file." I tried it. It works.
When you hit that Title Command, you end up with a saved title file in Documents or wherever you choose to save it. The thumbnail looks amazingly like the saved title file that you see in the 1.0 version videos when they hit Save As (Save) at the bottom of the Styles Panel.
My RX for tonight, take a look at the Premiere Elements 2.0 Help Center, make sure you go back to Edit Module after creating title in Title Module, make sure you put the title in Video 2 above the pictures/videos in Video 1, and post back for more details if needed. (I have been assuming that you want to type a title...you are not using a template???)
Good luck.

You're right, the Dummies book is for Elements 1. I have that version also (where I had no trouble saving a title), & I grabbed the book off the bookshelf without thinking that it was for #1.
I AM using a template, It has the graphic at the bottom, & is transparent at the top, where I want to put a picture. that works ok, I see that whatever picture the current time indicator is on, is the picture that is shown with the title graphic.
I'll try your idea when I get back to my project, hopefully tomorrow.
One more question for you. When I added a track, for my title (that didnt work), it added video track 1 under my video track & then renamed my video track, to track 2. Yes, I did select add a track befor the current track. What's up?
This is my first project in Elements 2 & I'm finding that it is somewhat different than 1. More confusing, I guess, or I thought that since I knew 1 pretty well, that 2 would be a breeze. Obviously, not the case.

skicat,
First, you can set how many video and audio tracks you have at the start by Project Menu/Project Settings/Default Timeline/Video & Audio (mine are each set at 3). I think the max is 99. That would be some project!!!!
Let us say you have 3 Video tracks and 3 Audio tracks and you want to add a 4th Video track. If you right click Video 1 track, you have the option to Add Track. If you choose Add: 1 and Placement "Before First Track" in the dialog box, you will end up with 4 Video tracks: Video 1 is the new added track, Video 2 is the former Video 1, Video 3 is the former Video 2, and Video 4 is the former Video 3. That is the way it is. You can always right click a track and change its a name or number. If you had decided to use Placement "After Last Track", then Video 1, 2, 3 would be the same as at the start, but the new added track would be Video 4.
You are putting your template with the transparency in the Video track above the Video track with your video/photos??
This information is also in Premiere Elements 2.0 under "About tracks" and "Default Timeline settings".
I will watch the Thread for your progress.

ATR, I got it! My problem was the placement of the title. I did not put it on the track above the picture I wanted. Also, I found out that I dont want to save it at all, I just wanted it to be in the media panel. I thought it should have my picture "on it" when it was there. Instead I just needed to place it correctly on the timeline. Thanks for your help. skicat
