Having wierd problems - re-install PE4?

Some of the imported photos from my SD card have been corrupted. At first I suspected the SD card but PE4 has been doing strange things:

After importing photos it say the only pics you will see are those that you just imported. What I actually see are all the pictures EXCEPT those I just imported. To see the new pics I need to click on 'Show all pictures'.

Now PE4 refuses to import any pictures from the SD card. I tried connecting the camera using the USB cable but no help.

I think I may need to re-install PE4. Can I re-install over the existing installation and 'fix' the damaged files or do I need to un-install and do a fresh installation? What will happen to my tags and collections? Will PE4 have to search my HD to rebuild its database?

Mike, this is going to sound very basic, but here goes.
Make sure the camera battery is fully charged (been there done that!)
I have had several images "corrupted" in the camera probably due to turning the camera off too quickly after taking a photo
Make sure you have the camera on the correct setting for downloading.
Last but not least, use another USB port (I had trouble until I changed USB ports)
Not sure if any of this will help :D . Perhaps someone with more knowledge will be along shortly to help you.
