I'm sure all other popular Camera makers will follow in the same suite. Even the professional photographers are doing digital more and film these days, are they?

Not exactly....

"...Canon will continue making film cameras already on the market as long as their demand remains...."

As much as I love and shoot digital, I still hate to see film go away. I wonder in 30 years if there will be a similar story about digital cameras being phased out in favor of the next great technology.

Wow! I agree with Ward on this one! although my 35 mm is currently packed away. I have a sentimental attachment to it. :( but I do love my digital!:)

I have an old Olympus OM-10FC film camera. Took it out of the closet for the first time in 15 years and took out the batteries. Fortunately they hadn't fouled yet, but you never know, there may be a tragic shortage of silicon on the future and I may need this beast to feed my habit.

I've had this camera for more than 20 years. In the 4 years of active use I took 400-500 pictures tops. In the 1.5 years I've had my Dig Reb, I've taken 10,000 pictures.

It will be interesting to see what we use to capture life in 30 years. "Hey grandson, I remember when my camera used to weigh 6lbs with my zoom lens..."

Bring the next newer and better thing on. I will be equally as ready to give up digital as I was film....I guess I just dont have sentimentality for old technology always ready for the new and improved...even though I realize there is normally a trade off.
