Why do i feel like this winter is dragging on forever...afterall it is only March and I'm totally bumped out already. The weather is still way too cold to enjoy any outdoor activities. I did do some raking yesterday while the sun was out...i guess it did warm up to about 46 degrees farenheit ...still too cold for my bones. I'm dying to get out and shoot new spring growth. There is still snow that just doesn't want to melt and the weatherman says we may get more later tonight :( I'm so depressed....really i am.

Thanks Wendy, yes I would have to say Spring is my favorite time of the year...but i prefer summer as far as temps go. The reason spring is my favorite time of the year is because the blasted winter i hate so much is over with !! I love that feeling...I'm aching for that feeling. Sick to death of winter !

Maybe I'll just move to Florida and pick on the Elements team....just for fun ;)

Hay I'm not done taking winter snow and frost pic. yet. I have had so much fun this winter with my new Pentex istd. I have taken between 600 and 800 pic. I will permit the weather man 1 week of mud season between winter and spring. Heading to Oswego NY this weekend and will most likley shoot another 100 to 200 on our grandson.
Have a great Easter weekend

I missed the snow that we had in the UK a few weeks ago. Just some would have been good, great photo opportunities - but not what Jodi has had to put up with...

Hopefully the weather this Easter weekend will ok...

Thanks Scuba Stan for sharing...yes i know your type ;) ...I'm not a winter person tho so the idea of going out in it to take pics doesn't entice me at all. Ya, I'm a stick in the snow...Happy you are happy and achieving your desires.

Mike, i feel it's just been too long a winter this year for some reason. Certainly isn't any different than any other year. I need change.

Actually when spring arrives the same areas that have been so great for winter pic. will be loaded with wild flowers and wildlife. Then I'll have to wait until fall, my favorite time of year. If you are ever in NE Ind. let me know and I'll show some great places for outdoor photos. We have a group called Acres Inc that has done much to preserve many special natural areas in our flat land of corn and beans.
Hang in there spring will be here soon.

Jodi,

I feel bad for the people who are not enjoying spring yet. Our trees are blooming; daffodils, tulips, etc are blooming. Cherry trees are beginning to bloom. It was Carolina blue sky today with 75 degree temp.

Palm Sunday weekend, I shot pix around the house of all the blooms and the Lily I bought for Easter.

It will come soon for you. It always starts earlier here.

Sounds like you need a spring flower. It's was about 1/4 inch across.

Recently, I had the chance to boast about kewl things to do in western WA. Since about the 2nd week in February, we've had consistent high temps in the 50's to low 60's with lots of sunshine. It's supposed to be our rainy season, but el nino has weirded that right out the door. A trip to the west coast for some fantastic views of the cascade mountains or olympic mountains with fresh snow on top might be just the ticket.

After living in the midwest for most of my life with 9 1/2 months of winter and 2 1/2 months of bad skiing conditions, I do NOT miss the miserable wait for spring which ocurred for a total of three days and then summer arrived.

Life's too short to drink bad coffee. And way too short to shovel slush.

As Matt said, it was 85 here yesterday, although it was humid. I think we went from Winter to Summer.

We are expecting picture perfect postcard weather at the shore the next few days. I've been able to do a lot of beach photography this month but I'm also looking forward to getting back to the mountains for some spring wildflowers and misty morning scenery.

I guess I'd better get working on those digital scrapbook skills!

I lived in NewPort Richey for a brief 18 months. Honestly the summer heat and mostly the sticky humidity drove be back north. I am an outdoors person and not one spend the days indoors in AC in summer...I think that is what drove me nuts most of all. We didn't have a second vehicle so while hub was working I couldn't go anywhere...like the beach !! Yes I need to stop complaining about winter up here. I am never truly satisfied and not sure i ever will be...like the song U2 song...still haven't found what i'm looking for....not sure I ever will.

Jodi, just so you don't feel too bad, we had a lovely SNOW STORM Saturday and Sunday!!! The snow had all melted away. It was drying up and starting to feel like spring and then..................... In all there was about 4 inches of the darn stuff and it was the wet, heavy half snow half rain big flakes. Slush up to your ankles!!! Luckily the temperatures got very mild today and most of it has melted, but it sure was a depressing weekend. It's the kind of snow you like to see in December, not April!!
I prefer spring weather to summer weather, but like it to be dry (Golden retriever, and wet, muddy spring weather, don't make a good mix!!

Hi Pauline yes I understand while flooding was occuring here over the weekend that snow was a possible alternative in higher elevations...where are you ? We didn't get flooding here but the lower areas did...but we didn't get any of that 'warm' weather. Today it will be a high of 57 which is alot warmer than it has been over the past 4 days. Mother Nature is really starting to piss me off. We are suppose to get nice highs of 67-70 by end of week but rain is also in the forecast...go figure..it's always the way isn't it ? I'm dying for warmth. I'm looking forward to hot nights where we need to have the fan blasting in our bedroom at night ( I love the sound of a fan on a hot summer night )...I just love dramatic summers. Yes, it's me Jodi...a guest while on my security flawed win '98 machine....burning DVD slideshows on the other today. Then after I've burned enough copies of what I want then it's PC house cleaning time...burn all images to CD rw then delete all from machine. I'm due for a fresh start.

Hi Jodi
I'm in Ontario. About 100 km north of Toronto. Right now it's gorgous out (about 6 celcius----way to cold for you) Unlike you I DON'T like those hot summer nights. A temperature of 70 F all summer would suit me justs fine. Most of the dreaded snow has melted away and we are supposed to go to the double digits this week, which after a long winter feels possitively balmy. It's hard to stay inside and I will sit outside with my coat on and read. We Northerners get used to the cold. I barbeque all winter which just amazes a friend in Florida who finds anything below 60 F to cold for barbequing. LOL

My computer also needs a major clean out and I need to burn my pictures to cd, but I haven't devoted the time to it yet. Just so many other things to do, and while it's such a simple job, I have no idea why I put it off!!! (I should get going though before the darn kids go through all my cd's burning music!!)

Spring is on the way! I can feel it!

Pauline, I'm originally from Mount St. Hilaire, Quebec...so I'm familiar with the cold and as a child...and even late teen i didn't mind the cold at all. I did alot of cross country skiing so I suppose I kept warm with heart and blood flow pumping...but there were still times i recall peeling the the thremal layer of clothing from my frozen clamy thighs...that part wasn't so fun. I think the problem I'm having is that we don't live in an area where i can go for walks/skis from my backdoor like I did growing up. We are renting this home and we live off a buzy highway....just like in the movie Pet Cemetary,,,altho 'we' have neighbours.....and our pets are still 'alive'....keeping fingers crossed. I have to go buy more DVD-R's now...I thought I had enough but now I see I don't...I better get some cd-rw's while I'm at it. Can't wait to clean this all out ! ...I actually need the space since I'm beta testing again....enjoy the weather !

Pauline, i realized after burning my DVD's that I couldn't get on to burning images to cd-rw...I have photo album/wall printing to catch up on !!! So, I think perhaps I'll create a folder and name it ' print me!' and copy those images i want to print into it and then still be able to get rid of all the excess...which still gives me time to print my images when i'm ready...yup, thanks, just talked myself into that one ;)

Well I'm glad that worked for you Jodi!! One thing I have discovered is that with digital photography the pictures quickly add up and next thing you know, you've got a big pile of them, and it's hard to remember what is what. I try to name files properly etc, but still...........most of mine are of the dog...lol Shilo followed by date. That tells me a lot. Then when I think of burning them on cd I think, "well I might need that and don't want to get it off the computer yet".........lol next thing I know, hundreds have accumulated. Might be a job for next week. Just too busy right now and bought 2 magazines. One on painting and one on digital photography......my two favourite subjects next to my dog.
