View Full Version : Photoshop Elements image viewer

hi
I've just upgraded from Photoshop Album starter edition 3.0 to Photoshop Elements 4.0, and it seems that Elements has no viewer like Album.
For example, when I clicked on a image file in the "My Pictures" folder with Album installed, it opened a small image viewer, similar to the windows picture and fax viewer. But with Elements installed, it opened the whole Elements editor or orginizer, which I find tends to take a long time when I just want to quickly view an image.
Is there a way that I can enable a viewer like in Album, or a plugin I can download?
Please reply!!!! :)
Thanks

Hello Mazo, welcome to the forum. I upgraded from PSE1 to PSE4 and unfortunately I can not help your query :D . Hang in there and I am sure someone with more knowledge than myself will be along to let you know.

Mazo21,
It seems that Elements has taken the liberty of becoming your default picture viewer. This should be failry simple to fix. Open one of your photo folders, select and right click any one of your images, choose 'open with" and then select 'windows picture and fax viewer" or any other photo veiwer which appears there.

Hi Mazo21. I think Norm meant to say to Right Click on your icon and select "open with", and then select Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Thanks guys
Call me fussy, but I'm just wondering if it is possible to get the Adobe Picture viewer, which has more features than the windows picture and fax viewer.
Thanks :D

Mazo21,
I'm not familiar with Adobe Picture Viewer but if you have it installed, the process is similar.
Right click an image
Select "Open With"
Select "Choose Program"
Navigate list to find the program, select it
Click ok
Good luck

Hi! I'm brand new here as of today; is no one here using Vista? One of its nicest features is that you can open your pictures folder, choose the folder containing the photos you want to see, and then just click "slide show" on the toolbar. Full screen; beautiful! I'm a digital scrapbooker, and I love to use that feature to show my layouts! It becomes a slideshow without the need for another program like Quicktime. You can control the speed, hide the cursor if you choose, or run it manually. and Oh, and Vista also lets you see extra large thumbnails that are very cool when you are searching for the one you want.

Grandemomo,
Was Vista even in release back when this thread was active (almost 2 years ago)?
