trouble closing image

When I try to close the image it becomes a larger grayed out picture and I can not get rid of it. I did save as jpeg2000 at one point but back it came,
When I double click on it it reverts to the smaller size and the grayed out disappears. I can't seem to find any place to revert......Problems!

Are you with Windows or Macintosh? PSE2, 3 or 4?

woops sorry..I closed out of elements and when I came back the problem was gone. I am on a mac. but it's not the machine obviously it's ME!
