I can't seem to find a Tut yet on this, figured I'd post and see what I find first, a response or a Tut. :)

I'm trying to turn a photo to b+w, except for the eyes. I'm sure it's pretty easy, but I haven't figured out how to do to lassos at once and keep it like that to turn it b+w.

I know I could put the blue in afterwards, but I want to keep her blue eyes the way they are.

Thx in advance!

BTW, you guys are all amazing! I've learned so much just from reading on here the past couple weeks! :D

You could use a gradient map adjustment layer over your color image to create the B&W. Then, paint on the adjustment layer mask over the eyes with black.

Wow, very cool! Thanks, being a newbie...I wouldn't have thought of that yet. Her eyes look even bluer than they were in the original, is that possible, or does it use the true color when you paint over with the black?

The color should be true to the original. I expect that just look more vibrant against the black and white image. Glad it worked for you. You can tweak your black and white gradient layer by adding a levels adjustment layer on top of it and playing with the three channels until you get something you like. Have fun!

I just learned this. when you select the lasso tool in the toobar are 4 small icons and they represent : new selection..add to selection and 2 more. choose the add to selection and that will keep both eyes selected at the same time. Hope this helps and that I stated it clearly. You may have to lasso and then click the add to selection icon or after you have chosen the lasso tool then go ahead and click on the add to selection icon.

Hi ...

If you are looking for a tut on this effect go to the Subscriber Area, click on Tutorials and then scroll down until you see a tutorial called "Making a Black and White image with just a touch of colour" :)
