Hi
Okay I know I am getting obsessed with this picture. I had so much fun with this using the gradient map video; I decided to do a sketch of itusing the sketch video but added a gradient map layer mask. This is the most fun, I guess because I am trying different things as long as I save the orginal. I am just dropping down menus like I thought I knew what I am doing and I assure I don't.

Well Vesta I gave it a try but I can't get it to look even remotely to the way you have it :( What gradients did you use......were they the same as the ones used in the video??

I tried a few other gradients but they looked even worse. I just love the effect of that photo you did, it's gorgeous :) Did you also just use a soft brush to paint over it?

I wanted to try something different and when I saw your photo I thought "that's it!!" but now it's not working out so great :o Could you please give me some tips?

Good Morning,

Thanks for taking a look at my pictures.
Mel, this is one of the moments I will never be able to reproduce because this is one of those times when I thought I had saved the psd and it didn't but I did go back and could remember the gradients I used. I chose the layer (on adjustment layer) gradient map orange/yellow then chose gradient map but I then clicked on the arrow on the right corner of this menu and chose Harmonies 2 and I did as the video suggested. I played around so much that I would roll back the history and start again but always with the same gradient map colors choices. Then other thing is I change the size of the soft brush sometimes and the opacity to get different effects. Even knowing the layers you make on this type of picture won't let you create it exactly ever again because you are changing the opacity so much in different areas.

Hope this helps as I am just beginning. Let us see what you come up with. Sometimes it helps to have the same picture, if youwant I could email it to you.

Vesta, I think both versions are great. Could you tell us about how you achieved the effects in your second version, too. Did you use a combination of filters? Thanks...

I have had this situation many times as well.....you know where you create something (mainly by experimenting) and you get so far into it and all of a sudden it's like "this is it" and you go and save it but totally forget how you did it  :D

Thanks for the tips though. I will just keep playing around with it till I get the results I like. I hadn't thought about changing the brush sizes so I'll give that a go.

Barb,
Thanks for looking
I use the sketch video to start with, even did the extra suggestions at the end like changing the mode to luminosity at the end and went to filters artistic and chose Fresno and created an asjustement layer-gradient map and used a soft brush and changed opacity different times till I liked what I saw.

I'm not very good at ths just really stumbling around in PSE4 and I mean stumbling around.
