hey I download a free plug in from unlead effects and I was wondering if using like the backgrounds from the art textures is against the law. Because I am a photographer and I took some senior pictures and I need new backgrounds for them and they have some nice ones but I don't know if there is a law about putting them in you know what I mean?

Hi there ...
Usually there is a text file with plug ins that gives you information about when and where they can be used ... was there none included with this one?

Maybe I am being naive, but I would have thought if it was part of a free download, on a readily available web site ANY rights issues were either taken care of, or expired or whatever the term is for they no longer apply. BUT the old rule of thumb 'Ignorance is no defence' should probably apply here.
IF the website is registry based maybe you should check the terms of registration.

If it's something you're creating with the downloaded effect, how could that be copyrighted? Maybe I'm misunderstanding where the backgrounds are coming from.

Wendy, wouldn't that background effect be fairly easy to make yourself? That way there is no problems with any copyright etc.
