Hi Vesta ...

Is it the selection itself you want to save ... the marching ants

or ... is it what is the object inside the selection ??

Its just that you can save both :)

Hi Vesta, I am not an expert at this...but when I want to move a selection. such as the grid in our stained glass exercise, I open a new document with a white layer, or whatever color the selection will show up on. Tile the two photos in your viewing window. Make sure that the new document has the same resolution as the originating photo so that when you move the selection it will be sized correctly. Then you can click on your original photo, make your selection. Click on your new document, then click paste. Your selection should then be in your new document on its own layer. I think that you can also use the move tool to move your selection from the first photo to your selection. Hope this helps. Maybe someone else will have another solution...

Hi Vesta ...

All you need to do is:

Click on the layer that he is on
Do Select>All
then Edit>Copy
next do File>New Blank File ... just accept the settings it gives you
and do Edit>Paste

All you need to do then is save the new file :)

Yikes - the last should be Edit>Paste ;)

ACK! I generally just hide stuff behind my desk - out of sight, out of mind (until mrs. graffi finds out what I've been up to.... ;) )
