When the slide show editor is displayed, it's cut off on the bottom, so I can't see the "photo bin". Solution?

Jim,
Is your screen resolution set correctly? For PE3 it needs to be 1,024 x 768...

Burned my slide show on to a Video CD, which now will not play on my DVD player nor on my computer. Any ideas?

Jim,
The CD's are created in VCD format. Does your DVD player support the VCD format?
Do you have a DVD drive on your PC? If so then use the software that came with it (e.g. WinDVD or PowerDVD).
If you don't have this software, to play a VCD in Windows Media Player:
 Insert the VCD in your CD-ROM.
 Go To My Computer, right click on the CD icon and choose Explore.
 When the contents of the CD come up, open the folder called MPEGAV.
 Right click on the .dat file (it will probably be the only one).
 From the menu select "Open With".
 A "Caution" message will appear but for this file you can just press "Open With" to continue.
 From the program list choose Windows Media Player.
 The VCD will then open in Windows Media Player.
As you can see a lot easier if you have a program like WinDVD...
If you are going to watch slide shows on your PC I recommend that you save them as a wmv file...
Oh yes, the quality of VCD is at best the same as a VHS tape, but usually it is inferior. So be prepared for the image to be blurry compared to a DVD.

Thanks, Mike. I don't have a DVD program so I used Windows Media Player and that worked. It is grainy, though. We also got it to play on a friend's DVD player and TV, where it was even grainier. Is there some way to create a slide show that isn't blurry?

Jim,
As I said in my post, the quality of VCD is at best equal to VHS tape, but usually is it worse. You could try SVCD (which is better quality than VCD) but PE3 doesn't support that format so you need another program like Nero.
DVD is the real answer, but to do that you would need to buy a DVD writer for your PC...

Thanks again, Mike. So would PE3 be compatible with a DVD program, and which would you recommend? Also, I took your advice and saved the slide show as a wmv file. It took forever to do that. Now that I've got it, what do I do with it?

Jim,
The perfect partner for PE3 would be Premiere Elements... although there are obvioulsy other programs...
wmv is the Windows Media Player video format, so you can open your slide show using Windows Media Player.
