Photoshop Elements 3 has apparently taken over the task of being my default jpeg viewer. I want to return that default task to the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Any ideas how I can do that?

One way you can do this is to right click on any picture on your hard drive and select "Open With". Then select the Choose Program option from the menu. Select the program you want to open the picture from the list and also check the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box.

You have to do this for each file types (e.g. jpegs, tiffs).

I'm using elements 4 on XP.

I want Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to be my default viewer, since Elements takes so long to open. But then when I click the edit button in that program, I want elements to open the photo... but Paint opens it! How do I change that to Elements.
Thanks.

I just open Elements Editor and from there just double click in work area to bring up the windows file tree then open picture file.

I'm not sure you can change it easily but I just right click on the image in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and "Open With" gives all the options (one of which will be Elements). I find that the best way as I have several programs I may want to use for editing.

That also works with other "viewing" programs I use (Picasa 2 being one)
