I posted this somewhere else and now I can't find the thread. I want to install PSE4 yet keep PSE3 on my system. Any suggestions? I am not sure how to do that.

Just Install PSE 4 - you can have both on the same computer but can only have one running at a time.

Dee Dee,

When you install PSE4, it will find the "My Catalog.psa" file you created with PSE3 and convert/import it for you.

It would be a reasonable precaution to make a copy of the catalog file before you install PSE4 as insurance against a hitch in the installation process -- you would have a backup with which you could try again, or resort to using PSE3.

The default location for the Organizer catalog file is:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalogs

Just make a copy of the "My Catalog.psa" file, with a different file name, in the same location for easy reference.

Once the installation of PSE4 has completed, and you have verified that your catalog was imported successfully, you can safely delete the copy.

Subsequently, you can only use the Organizer from PSE4 (because PSE3 cannot use a PSE4 catalog), but can use the editor from either version... probably only one at a time, though. I have all four versions of PSE installed on my machine, and only one will open at a time.

HTH,

Byron
