I know this has been covered so many times but if you would walk me through this picture for resizing:confused: my family will be indebted to you all.
The orginal picture size from camera download:
Width 17.076..Heigth 11.378
Pixels Dem are W- 3072 H- 2048
I opened the psd file I made of the picture doing only a mask so i could paint her dress eyes and lips back in. I wanted to blur the background and also remove some and followed this instructions : duplicate the image flatten it(if you stillhave layers) then crop away some of the excess..Duplicate the layer..Blur the top layer using Glaussian Blur then use a mask or eraser to remove blur form her and lower brush opacity worked like a charm) thanks for the instructions Wendy.

After I did this I wanted to size to send to my kids did that through Pse4 even framed it for me but my cropped size is like a square jpeg W-1826
H- 1825 Document size is W_10.144 H-10.139 Resolution 180.
How do I get 5x7 or have the ability to choose any size and will it print at this resolution. My kids have requested I do 3 pictures of her and her brother like this with almost no color in background an just the eyes clothing and mouth.

Get me through this guys please

Hi Vesta

I’m afraid you can’t turn a square into a rectangle like 5 by 7 unless you are willing to warp the picture.

You can of course crop the picture with either the crop are marquee tools. You can set the aspect ration to 5 by 7 in either then just drag your selection but it will only allow you to select a portion of your picture.

There is another option and that is to increase your background size to frame your square picture. You will make your back ground a 5 by 7 aspect ratio.

Duplicate your background layer. Click back on your background.

Set your fore and background colors to black and white.

Zoom your picture out some to give room on the screen to enlarge your picture

Click on the Crop tool …. On the option bar enter 5 in the width and 7 in the height leave resolution blank

Now drag a selection in your picture anywhere, don’t worry about the fit. Do no hit enter just yet.

Now click on a corner with the mouse and drag it out….click the other corner and drag out until you have your picture framed as you like.

Now hit enter and your canvass size will be filled with the background color and you will now have a 5 by 7 size frame around your picture.

You could make any size frame you like with this procedure.

You can also just make a blank 5 by 7 filled with any color and the resolution set to 300 .

Then open you picture… Press Select All…. then back to you new blank picture and press Edit>Paste.

Then select the move tool and grab a corner along with the shift key and resize as you like.

Thank you so much for replying; us newbies just get to depending on all of you. I will try this as soon as I get back home.

Thanks

Butch Thanks for your help. Is there some order I should do first before I crop and get myself into this square picture problem as I will save most of my pictures for printing. Crop then work on my picture or work first?
