View Full Version : First effort with Pen

I hope this works. I am getting so much spyware that I just have to keep trying. Anyway I have been trying my Wacom pen. Here is my first effort. It is so neat with the pressure thing. I can see I will be fooling around a lot with effects. Must learn how to do my initials too with my hand shaking.
I don't think anyone could ever know and try everything that can be done in this programme do you?

Really pretty, Shari, and very original! I like it. I have a tablet, but I have to admit I haven't used it that much. I need to do some more experimenting.

Shari,
Nice photo.
The more you use the Wacom pen and Tablet. Before you know it will all be like you have been useing it for years.
For the days or big editing jobs I place a jell filled mouse pad just on the edge of the tablet to reduce hand shaking it seem to work quite well for me.

Nice job Shari. It takes a lot of practice to get it down right. I actually ended up just using a really nice font to create my signature and saved it as a brush so I don't have to bother with trying to get it right anymore.

Shari:
Are you STILL having issues with the computer?!?!?!?!? I thought they took it back and cleaned it up a second time?!?!?!?!
I will tell you I have Norton Internet Security (which I hear others hate) Spy bot and Adaware, and Comcast is my internet provider. Knock on wood, I haven't had those problems. I do try to run the anti-spyware stuff on a regular basis, but not always.
I am so sorry for your problems!!!:(

Here is one I like better. I am going to print as a thank you card for the Easter Brunch we are going to.
Yes Colleen - this has crashed twice before I got this up. Only when I am on the internet does this happen. I got an expensive protection programme but they did not get the initial adware bug out. The programme comes up showing everything clean and so does Adware and cclean. But I have had about seven different porn adwares today. I have taken photos of them because on Monday my computer is going back in and they will investigate free of charge. It was my option to keep the computer over the weekend. I can work on Elements with no problem.
And I am really having fun with this pen. I think I have the hang of it now - although I still prefer the mouse for some tasks.

Wow! this one looks even better, Shari!
I haven't used my Wacom very much, but my daughter has read on a scrapbooking forum that some people put paper on top of the tablet and then it seems easier to write your name. But, as I said, I haven't tried that particular hint. I'm left handed, so use the pen in left hand and mouse in right--that arrangement works great for me! (Not the Wacom mouse--that one seems pretty hard to use!)
I've been following your computer saga and truly hope that it gets solved! That can be so painful!

Hi Shari,
It looks like you're really getting the hang of it. Not sure how your computer tech will react when you march in there with a bunch of porn, but hey, I'd try anything at this point. Good luck.

Well Norm - I feel I have to "SHOW" them how well they fixed my computer. I seem to get one post up and then goodbye - it freezes - but what the heck - I am having fun - and I won't give up.

Good thinking. It might give them some appreciation for what you've been going through. Hope you're all fixed up soon, and for good. Happy Easter.

Wow Shari, your images are simply lovely. The first one is my favorite.
I think there's a wacom pen in my future someday. Gotta let the cost of the new camera wear off first though.

Shari, I was wondering the same thing as Robyn. I'm afraid I've really been cheating myself on what can be done with the tablet and pen. Seems all I ever use it for is selections! Can you give us an idea of the steps involved in one of the beauties you've posted?
Thanks,
Linda

Hi Robyn and Linda,
I just read your posts now. I am at my husband's notebook (which I find hard to get used to). My computer is still in the shop - but I miss it sooo much and I am not happy with them reformatting it so I think we will pick it up tomorrow and next week pay the big bucks to have the "Geeks" come to the house. It is very hard to be reading these forums and not be able to try any techniques myself. It is going to be a sunny weekend here so I will take my camera on our walk tomorrow and on Sunday we are going in the "Sun Run" a 10K run/walk for charity with about 50,000 participants through the streets of Vancouver. So, I think I remember my technique for those photos as making a new layer and filling with white then using different erasers. It was just something simple I came up with for the pen but as you know with all the erasers so much can be done. You are both so good you will come up with all sorts of ideas.

Thanks Shari. I'll be giving that a try. I, too, am so sorry you're having all these computer problems :( I hope you'll end up with a successful "fix." Our hard drive crashed about 6 years ago, and we had to pay a geek team to recover our data. However they missed some, and I'm still "grieving" over some of what was lost -- pictures from my one and only trip to the Washington DC area. We entrust so much of ourselves to these machines! Anyway, best wishes for a complete computer recovery.
