Will be hosting a reception for my Mom's 80th birthday, and this is the first draft of the invitation that will be going out. (Blanked out some personal identifying info.) She's still a pretty lady, isn't she?

She certainly is. What a wonderful job you have done on that. Better print one out just for framing because I'm betting she will want one for her own.;) I like the filmstrip in color like that too - very bright and cheery.

Oops! I started another thread on this beautiful invitation in the Gallery Updates before I saw this one. Sorry...

Linda, that is gorgeous! I just love the pastel gradient treatment you used with the filmstrip. It totally changes the look and it's so ladylike. I'l bet your mother loves it (if she's seen it yet).

Betty and Diana, thank you. I sent the invitation to my mom via email this evening, and that was how I told her about the reception. She said she had to wipe away a tear or two. Now I have to get BUSY and make it happen! :o

Hi Linda - that is a gorgeous invitation and aren't you glad you have her genes so you can also look forward to being that beautiful when you are 80!:) Happy Birthday to your Mom!

Ha :D , Mary! That's a nice thing to think about, but sometimes I feel like my mom is younger than I am! I don't look much like her -- more like my dad's side of the family.

Linda, what a wonderful invitation and what a great occasion for your mum! Congratulations to her on reaching this milestone! I hope I looks as good as your mother if I'm fortunate enough to reach 80.

I've just spotted evening at Cove House (inspired by me!!) .....I love it. I'm pleased I've inspired somebody. Where abouts is Fritz Cove? It looks like a stunning location.

EDIT - I've just looked at all your gallery Linda and what a beautiful gallery it is......."Chocolate Face" would have to be my favourite, it's exquisite.

Linda, that is fabulous. We just got home from dinner celebrating my husband's 79th birthday. Every five years we throw a big party and that will be next year. He still works (because he likes to) and plays racquetball four mornings a week at 7 AM. 80 is young these days for some. Your Mother included. I hope you don't mind if I put a copy of your invitation in my file - to use the idea next year. Your gallery is great. Evening at Cove House is fantastic. I hope to learn that technique some day.

Linda ...

That really is an excellent invitation ... I love the way you have done the whole thing, using the film strip for the photos throughout the years is an excellent idea ... its all just lovely. No wonder your Mom is delighted with it ...

Hope all the planning goes as well as the invitation :)

Linda, Wow, that is really great. I love the way you have done the filmstrip. My sister is celebrating her 60th this summer, would you mind if I steal the idea for her invite?

Robyn, thank you! I'm flattered to be complimented by you -- your work is awesome. Fritz Cove is in Juneau, Alaska. We're taking our New Mexico "best friends", Keith and Sherry, to Juneau this summer, and we'll all be staying with friends who live on this cove. Can't wait to be back for a visit!

Shari and Carol -- I'd be happy if you can use the invitation idea for your loved ones. Have at it!

And thanks to everyone else, for the nice words :)
