Well it looks like something has become corrupted in Organizer and I'm going to have to do a reinstall of the whole program in order to get PSE3 to work again. :( I seem to be able to load the Editor but whenever I try to open Organizer the program locks up or I get an, "Out Of Memory" error message (not possible, I have 1gig mem). I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is going to destroy all my tags and collections when I do the uninstall. I really don't want to even think about trying to redo all of that work fo organizing 5,000 pictures. Please, someone give me good news.

Michael, I know the Organizer as well as I know how to fly a rocket.. but I seem to remember about a key combination to reset the Organizer, like something to repair the database.
Try to hold the Alt key while launching it (or another key).

Michael R-S,
Hello again.
Have you seen the 3/29/06 Thread "Cannot Open Organizer Mode" in the General Elements Forum?

If you decide to do a reinstall the database remains untouched unless you go to the folder and delete it.
If Organizer is crashing then trying to get the Restore Database may not work.

Ray & Will-I played around (found out it's the Ctrl key) and PSE said it repaired the database but Organizer is still locking up and not finding it.
ATR-I couldn't find that thread you mentioned. I did find one about opening photo's in Editor but nothing about Organizer.
Anyone else? Please.

This thread has most of the things you can do to correct Organizer and the keystrokes to do it. You can also try "Repair" when you insert disc to re-install, but re-installing does not hurt your catalog. You might also try making a new catalog and see if it screws up Organizer like your old one did. You can just tag a few pictures to try a new catalog out.
Here's the thread:

Good Luck!

Try this:
In Forum Search space, type in Opening Organizer
In the page the opens, the Thread "Cannot Open Organizer Mode" is about the 7th one down.

Okay see if someone can explain this. I followed Clemson's advice and renamed my catalog and then opened Organizer. It said it couldn't find my old catalog (pre-renaming) and to please open another one so I went in to the folder and told it to open my now renamed catalog and viola, it opens.:) Yeah, right? Wrong.
So I go back and rename my catalog back to it's old name, open Organizer. Again it says it can't find my renamed catalog and please open another one. So I go into the tree and tell it to open my now renamed catalog which I had renamed back to it's original name. What does Organizer do? It locks up again.
What the heck is that all about?

There is probably some corruption in your catalog. Unfortunately :(

Ray-
Do you think there is any way to fix it? I really don't want this to keep happening. I can imagine a day when there is no way to access it.:(
If that happens will I have to create a whole new catalog and retag everything? Will it mean I have to start all over again? Please say it isn't so.;)

Michael,
As you know, I am not the expert on all things Organizer, it's been over two years since I used it.
Have you tried creating a new user account, then making PSE available for this new user account and try to open the catalogue from there? Perhaps it's your current installation of PSE that is faulty, and not the catalogue itself.. ?

Ray-
I'm not sure what you mean by starting a new user account.

A new user account... I think you'll find it in the Control Pannel, under users. You create a new user, then close your current session and use this new user instead.
Make sure you know your current password (for your current user) before you proceed, if you have any.

Oh, you are talking about starting a new user account from Windows, yes?

Yes, that's it. Sorry for the delay, we were out shopping all day (shoes, household stuff, etc... oh, I so love shopping... grrr.. !)
