Hi,
have just added a new image to my gallery.
I call it Babushka, which I believe is Russian for Grandma.

Hi Kev,
Great image. I love it. Babushka is indeed a head scarf or a hat. The Ukrainian word for Grandma is Baba.

Oh Norm, that is soooo funny. Our grandchildren call my husband Baba. I don't think I'll tell him it's a Ukranian word for grandMA

Hi Norm and Carol,
glad you like it.
Babushka does mean a head scarf but it is used as a term of affection for Grandma. The Russian dolls that nest inside each other are often called Babushka dolls.
Kev:) :)

Thanks Wendy. I missed Kev's reference to Russian. I just recognized it as a Ukrainian word. Saskatchewan is full of Ukrainians and the word definitely translates to head scarf or hat in Ukrainian. At least that's what Ed Wojcichowsky says. :)

My apologies Kev. I did not realize that babushka is also a Russian word.

Hi Norm ...
It always facinates me how words change meaning between one language and another :)
