Hi - I just came home with a Wacom tablet. I was downtown and saw this for $69. CDN. which I thought was quite good. I now have it home and realize it is a Graphire 3. Is there a difference between 3 and 4. The software is Elements 2 which I don't care about and Corel Painter Essentials 2 and Colour Efex Pro 2.0. I really don't care about the software although I may investigate the painter. Should I be taking this back and trying for a Graphire 4 or is this 3 good for getting the hang of things.
Thanks anyone.

Shari -
I think you'll probably enjoy the 3 ... I like mine a lot.

Shari,
Did you compare your tablet with the Graphire 4 at Wacom's website?

The software, Painter in particular, is much more powerful to turn pictures into painting. If you like this kind of thing, you will love Painter.

I am using the G3 as well. I don't really think there is much of a difference. Newer software bundle and newer look aside.
I got mine last year just before the G4 came out. I figured I would spend the least amount possible to "try it". (I have a philosophy about buying things I know nothing about.. either get the cheapest, figuring you will upgrade, but know what features you want, or get the most expensive you can, hoping to not have to upgrade in the near future.. not flawless but it works for me:D ) Also after reading some others comments, I figured the 4x5 tablet size would be OK. I'm not artistic and can't draw at all so the small one is fine.

Thank guys. Ray I had looked at that site and from what I could see it was the difference of Elements 2 or 3 which does not matter to me. The others were the 4 has 2 programme express keys and a transparent photo frame for easy personalization with photos and artwork. (I just do mine on another layer in PSE). The unit itself is about $50. more when converted to CDN. I have to go out now and have not got the time to deal with any frustration this weekend so may wait until next Monday to try it out. It can be returned within 15 days - but for $69.00 I think it is a good way to see if I like it. Thanks.
