Does anyone know of any software, or any technique, that will simulate infrared effects using PSE3? I have seen tutorials in magazines stating that they can be used in photoshop or elements, but then they give instructions clearly written for photoshop, using features PSE3 does not have. :)

At the risk of being labeled as a shameless self promoter you could down load and install my tools. Once installed activate the Channel Mixer. Click Monochrome to on, it is in the very lower left hand corner of the dialogue box. Setting Red = -60, Green = 200, and Blue to Equal -40 will give you a very close approximation of infrared.
My tool are free with no strings attached. There are also other equally good tools out there by other authors, some free some commercial. You can find all the information on how to install them, use them and down load them from this site: http://www.cavesofice.org/~grant/Challenge/Tools/index.html

Hi ...
Grant's tools really are great ... they extend the things you can do with Elements and make life so much easier.
Lots of us have them installed ... and thank you Grant for making them available to us :)

Glad JRay asked & Grant responded... I'd forgotten I'd downloaded some of Grant's tools, but had not used them yet. Thanks for sharing them with us Grant.

Grants Tools are very good and Free! If you want to check out a plug-in that works like a filter, you can check our BW Plus's "Retrograde" which costs $8.00 U.S. Here is the link:

I find having a couple of options to work with can give you an edge at times. We all have our favorite tools, but we should keep an open mind.
