View Full Version : Saved slide show goes black

I've saved a slide show (in PS Elements 4.0) which works fine in preview, but the saved WMV file has several problems:

1. A few slides go black -- either for the first second or entirely (i.e., they never display). I've noticed that most of these are TIFF files. Other formats, including CRW, seem to work fine. Does anyone else have TIFF issues?

2. Some transitions freeze momentarily, and stutter. It seems these are mostly "Dissolve" transitions. Is this a known issue?

3. The first time I tried saving it, the slide show went completely black after the first minute. Now, after some unrelated editing, it goes completely black after the first 5 minutes (of a 20 minute show). Any ideas?!

My system: Dell desktop, XP SP2, latest updates. 2.52 GHz with 2 GB of RAM.

Hi,

What video card do you have (size of RAM etc.) and are the latest drivers installed?

I have an NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 card, latest driver update (just did it again last week). I am pretty sure it only has 64 MB RAM, but I'm not positive. Could that be my problem? If so, any idea how easy it is to find a compatible card that's better? Thanks.

Hi,

Well it's not your Video card then.. the NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 has 64Mb of DRR RAM (which is faster than standard SDRAM) so it will more than cope with PSE4. I haven't seen any compatiblity issues between that card and Adobe software either...:confused:

Back to the drawing board (well thinking board)...

Well at least that's good, in that I don't need a new card!

When I first created the slide show, it worked fine.

But after I inserted a few photo's in the middle, all of the photo's after the inserted ones show only black.

This sounds like a bug. I'll probably contact Photoshop support....

Now that's interesting, Helmar. I've added over a hundred photos (the slide show has about 500 total) all over the place. But it doesn't go black at the earliest additions. Who knows?
