I'm hoping some computer guru here can help me with this problem.
I have been trying to delete a folder file from my computer and it will not let me do this.
the error message I get is this:
"Cannot delete the file name you specified or too long. Specify a different file name."
How do I specify a different file name?
If you can help and would rather not deal with it here in the forum please PM me or send and e-mail. This is driving me crazy:eek: so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

can't you just rename the file? Right click, rename? It's worth a shot. I had an issue with a picture that was sent to me through email and I was on this site for hours with people helping me and nothing worked. So, when I saw the Rename, I said ...wht the heck.....renamed it with a .jpg and it turned into one. Don't know why......
I am not a computer person and don't pretend to be ... but you may want to see if it lets you.....what have you got to loose???

Hi Colleen
Thanks for your response..I tried that and it dosen't work. The file seems to be embedded somehow. I only know the simple things of working a computer but not about changing file names and such.
I don't think we have talked before. I will send you a pm.

Hi Mayva,
I am also from Pa. Welcome. Where is this file located and is it a picture file? Make sure the contents of the folder you are trying to delete are not active. If you are viewing a picture the computer will not let you delete the folder that it is in. Best thing to do is go through your Windows Explorer to look at the folder and see what is in it. Hope this helps.
Welcome from one PA person to another!

bjorg,
Anna told me by email there are 55 files in total... I have sent her a program that should do the job.

Hi Everybody
Well, I think I got a little zealous with the program that Mike gave me. So I had to rebuild my whole computer. Mike, THIS WAS NOT YOUR FAULT. As I said above I just got a teeny weeny over zealous. But all looks good an I am back on board. the good News is the file and folders that I wanted to remove are gone.............:D

Anna,
Oh... sorry to read what happened...  . I suppose the consolation is that the files are gone.
