View Full Version : Date on edited photo

Hello--

I used PSE 4 to edit a photo for first time (previously on PSE 3). When I saved, I didn't create a version set (i.e. when only fixing red eye, no use for original). The date associated with my photo changed from date picture taken to edited date, causing the photo to move in the Organizer. I manually adjusted the photo back to the correct date, but not happy about it! :( It didn't work this way in 3.0. Often I save over (replace) the original photo when doing simple fixes. I tried again--and when I saved the edit in a version set, the date stayed as the date photo taken, not the edited date. Then I flattened version set--but really, it was easier in 3.0. Help! and thanks!

Hi there ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

Hopefully one of the PSE4 users will be along soon and may be able to help you with this one ... although it does sound as if it is a change that Adobe have made ...

Hi There,

I believe the date you are seeing is the modifiied date. Check under properties, metadata tag and you should see the date time orginal. I hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum, Vickie :) . There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on the forum and because it is world wide, there is usually some one on line 24 hours a day.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies.

I just tried editing a photo taken in February and saved it with a different name (which I didn't do last night). It did keep the date as the original photo and left it in Februrary in the Organizer. So I tried another edit and saved it with the original name to replace the photo. It changed the date to today's date and moved it out of my February photos in the Organizer to today. I then had to Adjust Date/Time to move it back to February in the Organizer. It didn't work this way in PSE3.

When I look at Properties, I see the modified date and the History/Imported on date. It's the date that the photo was taken that I'm working with.

I guess my workaround is to save as version set and flatten if I don't want the original or change the file name and delete the original. Unless there is a setting I can use to keep the "photo taken" date when replacing?

Hi Wendy,

Not new to photoshop elements, but new to the forum. I lost where I posted. Sorry for the delay in answering.
