Describing Layer types

I have been reading through alot of the threads and have absorbing info in the Scott Kelby books but was wondering if there is a book or a site I could be refered, that would describe what each of the layer modes do (IE: Blend, Diffuse, Dodge, ect...) so I might keep it as a quick reference.
