I've tried following so many techniques and still I don't feel good about the results I've gotten.
Can anyone take me by the hand and help me fix the glowing eyes on my dogs picture, please?

Hi there

I am not good with animal eyes, I don’t know what the dogs color should be.

Here I made a 2 pixel selection of the eyes and put them on their own layer. Then I changed the color with a hue/saturation adjustment layer.

I then made two adjustment layers one set to screen the other to multiply. Using the Multiply layer I clicked with a brush in the center of the eye to darken it. Then with 50 % opacity I outlined the eye a little to darken it.

Then I alt clicked the mask and applied a Gaussian blur to blend it in.

On the screen layer I brushed over the highlights in the iris then the same Alt mask blur.

I reduced the opacity of both layers 50 percent.

My dog had green eyes but I’m sure yours is different. Knowing what the colors should be you could reconstruct the eyes no problem I think

Dog eyes blown out with the flash are really hard to fix. Here's a tutorial on that subject:

I've had better luck finding a photo of a dog with "good" eyes and using copy & paste to replace the eyes. That's what I did with this photo:

If you don't have another photo of your dog with good eyes, Google online for dog photos, that's where I got those for the image of Molly and yours linked below. Molly has husky eyes in that photo!:D

After you select the eyes with the eliptical marquee (one at a time), feather them at least 1 px with Select > Feather before pasting them on your dog image. You may need to resize them to get the eyes to look right.

Here's what your dog looks like with an eye transplant (these are cocker eyes):

Hi ...

When the eyes are like that there really isn't much there to works on ... I tend to keep a file of things like eyes so that I can substitute then ...

It is better if you have the eyes from another photo ...

Thanks everyone..........I'm still struggling, but understand so far what you've offered. Never thought of substituting eyes from a good picture, thanks for that tip. That should work good...........if I can make it fit.

Thanks
Mary
