I have just reread the new features of the Canon 30D camera and they appear relatively minimum in comparison to my 20D. So what would I get to upgrtade from the 20D to the 30D?

Here are some of the advantages:

Larger LCD (2.5 " vs. 1.8"). Agree this is an advantage.
Shutter mechanism beefed up. Anybody complaining about the 20D for pro/am usage?
True spotmeter (3.5% vs. 9%.
Faster (?) startup time (0.15 sec v. 0.20 sec). Anybody able to tell the difference of 0.05 sec?
5 fps burst vs. with 30 JPEG/ 109 RAW vs. 23 JPEG/6 RAW.
Diagnostic error messages.
direct print button.
Selection of picture styles ala 5D.
ISO set in 1/3 increments.
Folder limit of 9,999 vs. 100
RGB individual color channels vs. overall levels. For the way I shoot I seriously doubt that these would be much advantage to me. Others may see these as serious improvements. I guess if I want to go one better I would go to the 5D (35D?).

(Note that this is not the same question as going from the XT to the 30D vs. the 20D which is a choice based on a different/cost benefit).

What about anyone else.:)

Bill,

To me, the best enhancement would have to be the ISO in thirds increment option and the spot metering option.

The better shutter mechanism is a question of how long it'll last. I think that previous units had a 50,000 pictures where now the 30D has a 100,000 pictures limit. I could be wrong on this, I can't locate the URL of where I read that.

The fast burst is not a consideration to me because I mostly never shoot sports or actions.

I would be tempted to go with the 20D if it got a better sale price (rebate), that is, if I didn't have a 10D. I'll wait for the 35D (10 MP camera)
