Thomas: If I read it right you're asking about aperture and how it affects shutter speed. It is directly related changing one affects the other -- that is why a there is TV (Time Value) which allows you to set a shutter speed and then the camera tries to set an aperture that will result is correct exposure. Same goes for AV (Aperture Value) mode in which you set the aperture which affects depth of field and the camera tries to set the shutter speed to give correct exposure. Changing one F-Stop means a change in one shutter speed and vice versa for setting shutter speed. Hope this helps. It is a good topic to read articles on to get a better understanding.

Yes,
But would changing the Shutter Size on the lense affect the Aperture and how much light got in.. would it make the camera more prone to letting light in or keeping it out...

Well Shutter Size is aperture; the lower the number the larger the opening and thus more light gets in the camera -- but the is controlled by shutter speed which limits the amount of time the light is allowed to enter the camera.
This is why fast lenses f2.0 are better in low light as their aperture value is such that more light enters the camera for the same period of time (shutter speed) and allows low light photography whereas as f4 or f5.6 lens would not render such a good photo.

Thank you, I had to do a project on if changing the shutter size of a camera would effect the shutter speed and I got 100 because of you Will! Thank you very much!

Thomas it is a bit more complicated than just the aperture size.
It will depend on the type of camera you are using for example.
If you are talking about a SLR or DSLR type camera the the shutter is not in the lens. It is in the camera and acts as a sliding curtain that races across the film or sensor. It is called a "Focal Plane Shutter" (at least it used to be called that who knows now). The width of the curtain determines the shutter speed as it goes across the film/sensor.
In a fully automatic mode the amount of light necessary for the shot are programmed automatically by the camera and the shutter and aperture are set to allow the needed light to reach the film/sensor. In other modes that is not true. For example in Tv mode the shutter is fixed no matter how much you change the aperture. The camera automatically changes the aperture to allow the amount of light necessary for the shot. In Av mode the aperture is fixed no matter how much you change the shutter. The camera automatically changes the shutter speed to allow the amount of light necessary for the shot(assuming you are not outside the range of the camera's abilities). In manual mode you need to set the shutter and aperture yourself taking into account the amount of light you need.
I hope this helps you understand how it works.

Jodi & Wendy -- I thought it was time to do my own avatar and kept thinking about doing a self portrait but never did. Then I got an idea of taking my face from a good picture and that is how I ended up with this one.
