I have a series of photos that I want to overlay. That is to say I have a base photo (I'm at work now so I can't show it to you). I have a second photo that I want to cut the person out of and layer onto the first photo but I want to feather the area around her so it fades into the first and is indicernable from the base picture. Does that make sense?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a tutorial out there that shows how to do that.

Hi Michael ...

The blending in of someone into an image like this and making it seen real is probably the most difficult part.

Fiust make sure that your selection of the person is good ... so zoom in close and carefully select them then copy them over into the new background.

When you have done that duplicate the layer they are on and switch off the eyeball of that layer (just so that you have a good copy of it to fall back to)

Now there are many ways to blend them in but my favourite is simply to run the blur tool around the edge of the "cut out".

Other ways are:

.. reselect the person (Control Click on the layer thumbnail) then do Select>Modify>Border (just a few pixels should do) then blur the border Filter>Blur<Gaussian Blur.

... When you have made your original selection do Select>Feather and apply a little feather bedore copying the person to the new background.

Do let us know how you go on :)
