I use a Nikon D70 which gives me the option of shooting in Adobe RGB or sRGB. Now this may sound like a really dumb question but here goes. Why would I want to shoot in sRGB if I have the greater colors and choices afforded by shooting Adobe RGB?

Michael,
If you're shooting to print and PSE is fully colour managed, then use Adobe RGB (it's fully supported with PSE so why not use it!). If you're shooting for showing on the web, sRGB will be better suited as most Windows boxes are using sRGB.

Ray-
If I shoot in Adobe RGB and then save for the web after I'm done, doesn't that convert it to sRGB?

I am not sure, but I don't think so. It'll remove the ICC profile or keep the one you have, not convert.

There was an article about adobe and s RGB in the july 2005 issue of Outdoor Photographer that did a little explanation about this - maybe even muddled it up some more. You might want to take a look at it - title is "Color Space Wars" http://www.outdoorphotographer.com/content/2005/july/dh_color.shtml
