Ok to all who have encouraged me to post a photo here it is.
I'm happy with it being my first creative photo. Please let me know what I could do to help this out. I had trouble with the filmstrip twisting it but got it very close to what I wanted

Hi,
well done, it's a hard technique to master but you've done it brilliantly.

Thanks to all who, I'm not sure what I will be trying next. I don't seem to have lots of time latley but i'm retiring in 50 days so that will free up of time for me to find my creative side of me....lol:) I have lots of tutorials yet to read and watch the dvd's that I have gotten.
I was talking to my brother the other day and he said something funny. It use to be that you took the picture and that was it. Now you take the picture and see what Photoshop can do to it.

That is brilliant, NOW all I have to work out is how it is done.
That is the second photo idea on the forums I am going to 'borrow' this week. Hey I may not be creative but I know a good idea when I see it......
OK, OK I should have checked the videos BEFORE I started to try to work out how it was done.
Had a go, I think it looks quite good but whether I dare to put it in my gallery (when I get round to setting it up) is another matter.

Great job! This is a bit of a tricky project for a beginner (remembering how may times I played with the shear on my first one...) and you've done so well:)
I agree that a drop shadow on the filmstrip would add to it, and may I also suggest that you erase the little bit at the bottom that doesn't have a photo in it? I also like to use a drop shadow on text to make it pop a little:)
Keep 'em coming-nice work!

Great job on the whole image.
The first time I tried this technique I also had a bit of trouble with the bending and getting it in the right position. I just kept playing around with it until I got the desired outcome :)
Looks really great.

Those 50 days before you retire will go pretty fast ... and then you will be able to try out all those Video tutorials :)

OK I give up just how do you get the curve on the film strip layer, I've tried polarise, it's looks too artificial and too many to others to mention, so someone give a poor overwrought, frustrated copycat a hint.....

Hamlett ...
A few people were struggling with this so I did a mini tut on using the Shear Filter ... have you seen that ?
Here is a link to it:

Basically you make the line the shape you want the film strip to be ... hope it helps :)
and here is a link to the original thread when we first did the filmstrip:

mrdonb, Wendy, Eternal gratitude to you both.
Quite why I didn't try distort/shear before I dunno, I THOUGHT I had tried just about all the distort filters all ready.
BTW I promise after this I shall open start a gallery and put up my latest 'film strip' trial (without sheering) please feel free to twll me how awful it is...
Well here it is. Yes there are plenty more pictures of my dog to come...

Hi Hamlett ...
Look forward to seeing your film strip image ... and glad to have helped. The shear filter is one of those things that unless someone has pointed it out then you are not likely to think of it ... after all shear sounds like chopping it up :) :)
