Layers vs Adjustment Layers???

Hi
Well just by the question above, it's clear I'm still a newbie. As things start to become more clearer to me, I suddenly realized there might? be a difference between adding a new layer vs the adjustment layer? Could someone please explain the difference to me? I surely would appreciate it very much.....

Hi blurryday...

Adjustment layers let you manipulate a specific aspect of your image - different from a layer in that you can go back into it and adjust the settings whenever you want to. It does this with the use of a layers mask, but that is a whole other topic.

With most things on a normal layer, if you want to change what you've done on it you would have to throw out the layer and start again. With the adjustment layer you can just alter the settings.
