Trouble installing Wendy's Orb

Has anyone else had trouble installing Wendy's Orb in Windows?I've dragged it into the effects folder,deleted both the effects and filters caches,restarted PSE4,waited for the caches to rebuild,then looked for the thumbnail,but only found the name of the file in the list.When I click on the name,all I get is the thumbnail called "original",which is inactive.I've redone this at least 6 times,with the same result.
When I delete it so that I can start over,do I delete the caches again as well?
HELP!:(
In my folder from Wendy,I have 3 things-an atn.file,a psd. and a file marked .DS_Store.There is also a MACOSX folder.
I tried to install it in PSE3,too,with the same results.

Lets hope that a Windows user who has installed it can help on ths one ... as I am now out of ideas ..

But ... yes when you delete and reinstall you do need to delete both lots of cache files again :)

Update-removed caches,too;reinstalled;no go!aaaarrrrgggghhhh!

make sure the .psd is named EXACTLY the same as the .atn - or that there's a layer in the .psd named exactly as the .atn, and make sure the .psd is 64x64 -

that should do it!

The Action psd etc are fine ... a lot have people have already installed it without any difficulty its just that we are having problems with Alice's install .. :)

gotcha. A lot of folks had trouble installing mine, too - everything they did was right, but they just didn't work.

I have just found something ... Eva had a similar problem. It turned out that she was installing it in the wrong folder ..

Wendy's Orb goes in your Adobe PSE3 folder under Previews>Effects

... are you putting it in there ??

Success was had when I installed previews> effects> filters. The next step before launching Elements is to delete the filters cache. To use it, look for it in Styles & Effects in the palette well under filters. I hope this works Alice.

when you install into effects make sure you install the whole file named Wendy's orbs. Then delete the caches and it should work.

One other thought...Did you have Elements running when you tried to install the action, because that could cause you problems..BE SURE Elements in NOT open when you install the Action. After unzipping the file, just copy the entire folder to you Elements Preview/effects folder. That's all I did and it works just fine in both versions 3 & 4.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you all-busy all afternoon with work,then playing with orbs.Haven't yet tried the suggestions.

Dorrie,I did make sure that elements wasn't on,so that wasn't it.
Kev,I did delete the caches-no go.
Eva-I'll give that a try!
Wendy,I did put it into previews\effects,still no go.
Graficalicus-thabks for the suggestion-Wendy says all that has been done.

Had same problem--Make sure you install both folders (the one that says Wendy's orb & the one that says Mac(Something). I dragged & drop in each individually then deleted my caches, Started PSE & waited for it to get set & it was there... Try again I had to try more than several times.

Do not install Wendy's Orb into the Preview> Effects folder. Install into the Preview> Filters folder and delete the filters cache. That worked in 3 & 4. I made several tries before it took. Make sure everything is deleted before reinstalling. And look for it in the filters menu in Styles &Effects in the Palette Well. Don't give up.

Eva, that's strange....I have my "Wendy's Orb" in the Preview>Effects folder only, in both versions 3 & 4. and they work just fine, yet you have yours in the Preview>Effects>Filter folder....Wonder why it works either way.

Quick question,tho'-did you have the name appear but not the thumbnail?

---be sure to unzip the files--you should have 2 folders (like I said before) give another try.

Hi,Sherry!It worked!I copied them in separately,but had to restart Elements twice before it took,but it's in there!I panicked when I went back in and saw that the cache was empty,even tho' the folder was there.That's when I did the restart,and all seems to be OK!Many thanks to you,and to all who helped!:D
